About the Workshop
Display your flowers in a hand made ceramic bud vase you build! Each participant will design and create a white stoneware bud vase using a slab build method. You’ll learn the basics of rolling slabs, using a template and successfully attaching clay together. Ideas for adding surface design will be discussed if you’d like to embellish your forms.
Once the pieces have dried, Dannielle will fire and apply clear glaze to the vases and participants will collect their bud vase from SGM in 2 weeks. SGM will have a selection of complementary stems available for attendees to take home with their vase.
About the Instructor
Dannielle Swan owns and operates Field to Heart, a flower farm in Curtis, WA; growing cut flowers and foliage for wholesale markets in Seattle and Portland. When she’s not working the fields she enjoys working in her ceramic studio. She studied Art at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, with a minor in Art Education; continuing on to get her Masters in Teaching in Art from Western Washington University. She started working with clay in 2006 at Pottery Northwest in Seattle and has been a passionate student of it ever since. She teaches ceramics at Arbutus Folk School in Olympia.

My passion and connection with nature is the sun because it has provided my livelihood; revolving around it, I have historically turned to designing with and caring for plants as a source of income.
